Inside Mission Makers Summer Camp

Where Kids Build Real-Life Skills Through Action

Mission Makers is a hands-on, small-group summer camp designed to help kids with ADHD strengthen executive functioning skills like planning, focus, organization, and follow-through—through engaging, real-world missions.

This isn’t a sit-and-listen program.
Kids learn by doing, practicing, reflecting, and trying again—with support every step of the way.

What Makes Mission Makers Different?

In school, kids are expected to use these skills, but rarely given the chance to practice them in meaningful ways.

At Mission Makers, kids:

  • Practice skills in real-time situations

  • Receive immediate feedback and coaching

  • Learn through hands-on, engaging challenges

  • Build confidence through repetition and success

This is where understanding turns into actual ability.

What Kids Will Work On

Each day is designed to target key executive functioning skills, including:

  • Planning & Organization – breaking tasks into steps and managing materials

  • Focus & Attention – staying engaged and following through

  • Task Initiation – getting started without avoidance

  • Flexible Thinking – adapting when things don’t go as planned

  • Emotional Regulation – handling frustration and setbacks

  • Independence – building confidence in their own abilities

What Is a “Mission”?

A mission is a structured, hands-on challenge that requires kids to use multiple skills at once.

For example, kids might:

  • Work as a team to complete a challenge with specific rules

  • Plan and execute a multi-step task

  • Solve a problem with limited directions

  • Reflect on what worked and what they would do differently

Each mission is followed by guided reflection so kids can:

👉 Understand what they did
👉 See what worked
👉 Improve the next time

The Mission Makers Approach

Every session follows a consistent structure:

  1. Mission Brief – Clear goal and expectations

  2. Active Mission Time – Kids engage in the challenge

  3. Coaching & Feedback – Real-time support and guidance

  4. Reflection – Kids review their performance and growth

This cycle is what helps skills actually stick and transfer to real life.

Small Groups, Big Impact

  • Small group setting for individualized attention

  • Supportive, structured environment

  • Opportunities for peer interaction and teamwork

This allows each child to receive the guidance they need while practicing skills in a social setting.

What Parents Can Expect to See

By the end of the week, many parents may notice their child:

  • Starts tasks with less resistance

  • Follows directions more independently

  • Stays with a task longer

  • Handles frustration more appropriately

  • Shows increased confidence
